'Breakers' (Sherwin)
'Breakers' (Sherwin)
‘Breakers’ (Sherwin) seems light years away from its L. henryi parentage. A multitude of broad petaled, gently recurved 4-inch flowers open ivory white with a small deep green throat—blending into a wide lemony-gold flush along the midribs. A carpet of short white-gold papillae nearly covers each petal. Rich sable red pollen on the end of filaments extending well beyond the stigma add to the flowers’ graceful beauty. 20-plus blooms per stem with numerous secondary buds. 4 to 5 feet, mid-July thru mid-August.
