Calla Aethiopica (Zantedeschia Aethiopica)
Calla Aethiopica (Zantedeschia Aethiopica)
Calla Aethiopica (calla lily) , Is a south African native that has proven itself to grow very well in most American gardens. Unlike the sometimes difficult to grow, colorful and smaller tuberous Calla lilies, Aethiopica forms a rhizome and is much easier to grow and take care of. They like a good moist soil and can even grow inside or on pond edges. It prefers partial sun or partial shade, but does well in full sun a if there is enough water available. Once established it will produce 10-15 flowers per clump and, depending on the location, it can reach up to 3 ft tall ( It will produce flowers the first year, but shorter). Blooms June-July . The pictured clump is only 2 years old from 1 tuber planted!
