| The
Oriental lilies prefer acid soil and temperate,
moist summers. Provide these by shade, mulching,
or container culture if necessary. Their enormous
flowers, heavenly fragrance, and late summer bloom
time are worth the extra efforts! |

large large pastel pink blooms that are flecked in rose

20 fragrant flowers on a
single second-year stem like the one pictured! 4 to 5
feet, August.

Lilium speciosum var. rubrum is native to Japan, with deep rose, recurved “butterfly” flowers and spicy fragrance. It tolerates heat (although it prefers cooler soils) and is persistent. 4 feet, late August.

 |
‘White
Merostar’ has large, icy white
blooms borne on slightly shorter stems, sturdy enough
to bear the weight of its enormous, upfacing, fragrant flowers!
